Just another example of how the increased militarization of police and no-knock raids in particular only make policing more dangerous for both sides. There is absolutely no reason they shouldn't have just walked up to the door and knocked.
I suppose the cops could have been worried that the outlaws playing poker could have eaten the chips and the cards to destroy evidence in the event of a raid. Sadly cops in most cities dont care if they are busting into a million dollar a month meth operation or a $1000 a night poker room. They just want to play with their toys...
