I would have fought for it harder, knowing myself, but I think Lee did a very good thing for the game and the situation in the very long run. It's not the most fair answer, perhaps, but it is about his life and happiness.
Considering that Pat was sitting next to the dealer and the dealer put the all-in button in front of him he was without a doubt all-in. I wouldn't have let Pat off of the hook.
All I can say is I'm glad I wasn't in his position.
All i can say is he was not leaving the casino without paying me.
Am I missing something here..... didn't this take place on the turn and if so why not table your hand until the river (I would have insisted he put in the chips)
Yeah, that's how I read it, too, so it seems we're missing part of the story. I assume the river didn't change anything.
I was left with lots of other questions, too. Why did the floor reject the possibility of exposing the other hand? (Granted that there's an interpretive problem. If he has nothing, is that evidence that he went all in as a bluff, or that he couldn't have intended to go all in?) What, if anything, did the player in question claim he had said that got misheard by at least three other people as "all in"? Once the floor had concluded (apparently) that it was in fact an all in move, why the unwillingness to enforce the consequences of that decision?
And what's big deal about people not wanting to name the casino?
My inclination in those situations is to give the facts when asked and let the staff deal with the technicalities. If they are forcing them to pay up, fine. If not, move on. If Pat wants to risk all future play at that casino over $300 that's his/her prerogative.
I almost missed that you had posted this link, Grump. Lucky for you I didn't just post my response as a comment here.....instead I did an entire post about it on my blog.
