I understand being a SEO whore. I'm just tired of these cheap tries for more page hits. The signal to noise ratio is no longer acceptable. I'm dropping your RSS feed.

It's so interesting the assumptions people make--wrongly. I check Google Analytics maybe once a week, only for the total daily hits, and that's mainly to see if there is an unexpected spike that would suggest that something I wrote got mentioned in some more popular blog or forum, so I can go investigate the source. I've never done a single thing to try to get this blog high in search results. I don't have the first idea how to go about search-engine optimization, and wouldn't be interested in altering my content for such purposes even if I did. It's been at least six months since I even checked to see what search terms bring people here.

If you're referring to the "Guess" posts (which I have to assume, since you chose one for your comment), you completely misunderstand. I take the photos because I think it's fun. I post them because I think it's fun. Some readers hate them, others tell me they enjoy the little game. There is one per day. I set them up in advance to deploy in the middle of the night, one at a time, even when I'm away.

I believe I adequately explained the temporary disappearance of more substantive posts. If you don't think helping my father find a nursing home for my mother with Alzheimer's was important enough to temporarily interrupt poker blogging for a week or so, well, there's not much I can do to make your priorities and mine in closer alignment, and I'll just have to do without your browser's hits on my counter. Oh wait--I don't even bother having a counter. Dang.
